Sonia Ebling was born in 1918 in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.
She lived in Rio de Janeiro and died on January 16, 2006.
Sculptor and teacher, Sonia Ebling began her paintings between 1944 and 1951. The artist began her training through courses in painting and sculpture at the School of Fine Arts in Rio Grande do Sul State and later in Rio de Janeiro.
From 1956 to 1959, she has traveled to several countries in Europe and studied with Zadkine, in Paris, France. She lived in Paris from 1959 to 1968, and received a Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation scholarship.
Back in Brazil in 1968, the artist performed some artworks at the Arches Palace of the Foreign Ministry in Brasilia, Brazilian Federal District.
She is recognized as one of the most influential sculpture artist from the country and left a legendary sculpture collection at all main Museums of Brazil.
